The BIG Reveal!

Okay, I'm ready to reveal my painting.

FIRST, you must hop over to Lemonpeel Studios to see where the inspiration came from for my painting.  This photo was captured by my very talented photographer friend, M.  When I first saw her photo a couple months ago I remember thinking just what a beautiful photo it was and how I always loved that barn in Park City.

This very enjoyable painting took me three weeks to complete.  At the end of each day of painting I had to wait about three to four days for everything to dry.  I LOVE painting in oils-- but some times the huge wait for everything to dry gets a little old.

Here's my break down of how my painting went...

I always paint with the least paint that I can.  I simply Hate to waste paint.  So by the time I'm done, my pallet is almost always clean of paint.  Waste not, want not-- right?

I spent a long time thinking and planning out how I was going to add the wheat.  Firstly, if you'll notice the original photo is taken through a wheat field and the wheat appears blurry-- how does one paint that?

By Day Four I spent a long time mixing up the grass and adding highlights and trees and other background details-- trying to get in the mood to prepare myself for the wheat.

Once I was done messing around with the background--- I just went for it.

I pulled up a goggle picture of "wheat" to kind of see what it looks like and had a good go at it.

Remember Day Five?

All done!

Some details:

Turns out I Love painting wheat.

I also LOVED painting our Flag.  This flag always makes me love my American Home!

The State Fair requires each painting to be submitting in a frame, behind glass.

I scored this one at Big Lots ( new favorite store?) for $15-- it is far from wood, but kind of looks the part.  It had a strange "painting" behind the glass.  I took it all apart and put mine in.

This has been a Most enjoyable experience.

Now, won't you join me at the Fair this year so we can see it in action??
