4th of July Pillow
I was really in the mood to sew up a pillow for the 4th of July this year. I don't do much quilting, but I had two requirements: it had to be quilted and patriotic. Before I even had a plan, I sauntered into Michaels and picked out some red, white, and blue fabric. They have a tiny selection, but I made it work.
Once I got home, I looked around for a tutorial to follow. I saw lots of great ideas, but ultimately landed on this YouTube tutorial.
Because I'm not a huge quilter, I had to Google a lot of the terms; HST = half-square triangle. But honestly, it was a lot of fun to try something new and put my own spin on it. I'm sure there were some shortcuts I wasn't doing, but I learned a lot. Excited to try another soon.
Making a quilted pillow is a really great intro into quilting. It's the fun of quilting without the massive time or size requirement. And who doesn't love a new pillow on the couch?
I really enjoyed adding the binding and the quilting lines.
It looks really cute on my couch. I think I'll keep it up past the 4th.
Happy 250th Birthday, America!
