HERE IS MY FAVORITE 5: 

1. To get to know more about Naptime Review, I started over in her "About Me" section and read this:
"Naptime review will give moms the latest information on products that I LOVE or not so love.  The products I find are chic, unique, healthy and educational. I have a Masters in teaching and a BS in marketing and sale. I created this blog to incorporate both passions, consumer reviews and things for moms to do with their children."

Isn't that great?
2. This is such a fun blog to explore around with.  Be sure to check out all her fun reviews like this one about DeLish cupcakes (found at Walgreens, of all places.)

3. She hosts 3 blog hops. Wow, that's a lot! On Monday she hosts a mingle to meet new bloggers. One of hers is a blog hop that features favorite products to review.  What a great place to find reviews of fun products! She also has a facebook hop to increase 'likes'.

 4. Up top you'll find the Current Deals button, a great places to find great deals,

5. Before I finished my tour around her blog I had to check out her Ultimate Fishing Giveaway.  Know someone who loves to fish?  Father? Husband?  Then, you've got to check out this giveaway.

Peg People Superheroes

Did you read my comic yesterday?

Good.

Now we're onto the how and why I made these little guys.

 

Five days before my son's birthday I read this post by A Girl and a Glue Gun and reminded myself of, "Oh, yeah, I wanted to do that for my son's birthday."  Luckily for me I had that sweet reminder and was able to head out that day and started this really fun project.

She gives a great tutorial on the how-to so I didn't take any pictures of my process because you can get some good ideas from her.

Besides if I did do a tutorial it would go something like this, "Open google to find image inspirations, Draw on your peg dolls, paint them, outline them with a Sharpie Paint pen, and seal with Mod Podge."  That pretty much sums it up.

This little pen turned out to be quite the time saver and gave everything a nice finished look.  If you buy one be sure to get the extra fine point.

I wanted my heroes to have a pretty specific accurate look so to do this I pulled up a couple ideas from pinterest to see some peg dolls, but ultimately I just pulled up images from google of how the real superheroes looked to get their look just right.

Spring Swap Gift

Remember the Swap?

Well I got my three words:

vintage, fun, and romantic


Once I got my words I spent a couple days stewing on those words and trying to decipher what direction to take.


Since I'm a do-er I thought it would be much more fun to make something...then go out and buy items.  Because That's the way I roll. 


So I think I first headed out to pinterest to get some ideas.  I'm not especially Vintage or Romantic ( I can be fun, though) so I wasn't too sure where to start.


It was there that I came across this print from REStyleShop.


I thought it was quite lovely, but wanted to take that idea and make it by own.  I thought if I replaced the vespa with a vintage romantic bike I'd hit the mark more.


So, here we have my Life is a Beautiful Ride magnet.  It is 2.5" by 3" so I had to use my teeniest paint brushes.  It's painted in oil and sealed all ready to be shipped out tomorrow.

Truth be told I had a great time making that magnet...and half way through the project I thought..."Hmm, I think I'll make another one for my shop to sell".

So I repeated the idea and made one more for the shop:

DIY Sewing Congratulations Sign!

 

A couple of weeks ago I made a Congratulations Sign for this occasion:

That's right, my husband graduated with his Masters.  We were very proud of him!

I had it hanging up in the kitchen in the morning and when my three year old saw it he quickly ran to my 5 year old and yelled out, "Happy Birthday! Your birthday's today, I saw the sign!!"

I had to break the news to him that this sign was not for brother, but for Dad because he was graduating.

Here's how.

MATERIALS:

1. Print out the three papers that spell "Congratulations"

2. Scrapbook Paper

3. Sewing supplies

STEP ONE: First thing you do is save and print out these three papers that spell "Congratulations"

(Right click on each image to save, and print on an 8x11 page to get the proper size)

STEP TWO: Cut out each of the letters.

STEP THREE:Gather up matching scrapbook papers.

STEP FOUR: Turn the scrapbook paper around and use a bowl to trace circles. 

STEP FIVE: Place circles in the sewing machine and sew together.  I left about an inch or two between each circle.

I had never sewn paper before, but it was super easy and fun to do!

STEP SIX: Next place the letters in order on the circle banner and sew around each circle letter.  After they're all sewn down, cut off extra thread.

 STEP SEVEN: All done, enjoy!

 Here's our banner hanging up at the party. 

Once I finished making the CONGRATULATIONS sign I decided it'd be fun to make another circle banner with all the extra scrapbook paper.  I cut out small and large circles and repeated the pattern of three smalls and two large circles and sewed them up.

Nothing quite wakes me up like homemade mini doughnuts (thank you children from Mother's Day) and a hot cut of Apple Cider....

....oh and the one year old throwing the plate across the kitchen and smashing it into 100 pieces.

I enjoyed the All About Me page to learn more about her blog and Kate.
